Weekend craft fairs were how I introduced SASKIA to the world. One weekend as we packed our car for the fair, I asked Scott where the jewelry was. We realized someone stole the case with all of the jewelry while we were packing up our supplies. I channel a lot of my emotions into my work, and this event was the catalyst for the Stolen necklace. When I decided to name it Stolen, some thought it was a reminder of something terrible. Too negative. I disagreed. I wanted to reclaim what was mine. I think it is so important to say, “I took it back.”

I like the hidden pattern in this necklace made with Ghanaian brass and Nepalese turquoise. It alternates between one brass bead and two turquoise beads and one turquoise bead and two brass beads. The beads that look like red coral are actually sea bamboo coral. Red coral is no longer legal to harvest, and this is a wonderful and sustainable alternative. Stolen makes a great gift for someone who loves bold color and to wear things that are funky and playful.
